# Facilities

A facility is any place your product is made, packaged, stored or sold. That can be your own production site, a co-packer, a 3PL warehouse, or a standalone taproom. Bev Deck tracks all of them in one place, and you can add as many facilities as you need.

Facilities are set up during Getting Started and managed in Settings → Facilities.

# Facility types

Each facility has a Facility Role that says who operates it. The role sets sensible defaults for the switches below, and you can still adjust them afterwards.

Role Use it for Production Cellar Taproom
Company owned A facility you own or operate directly, including a taproom-only site On by default Tracked tanks Optional
Third-party contract facility A co-packer, contract brewery or other facility another company operates On Untracked slots Optional
Third-party storage (3PL) A warehouse another company operates for you Off None Off

# Company owned

This is your own production site. Production is on, and you can add a brewhouse, its size and volume units, and individual cellar tanks. Its storage locations start inside bonded premises.

For a taproom-only site, keep the Company owned role, turn Enable Production off and turn Enable Taproom Operations on. The site then holds inventory and sells, but it has no cellar, brewhouse or production compliance settings.

# Third-party contract facility

Use this role for a co-packer or contract production partner. You can schedule batches here, package them and receive the product into inventory, just as at your own facility.

You usually don't know which of the partner's tanks your product is in. So by default a contract facility doesn't track individual tanks. Its batches show in untracked slots in the Cellar view, which lists what is in progress there without a tank map. If the partner does give you tank details, turn on Track individual tanks and add only the tanks your product uses.

The partner holds the bond, so locations at a contract facility start outside bonded premises.

# Third-party storage (3PL)

Use this role for a warehouse that stores and ships your finished product. Nothing is made there and there is no taproom, so production, cellar and taproom settings are all turned off.

  • Storage Provider and Account / Customer Number record who runs the warehouse and your account with them.
  • Product arrives at a 3PL already removed from bonded premises. The facility therefore files no production report of its own, and its locations must stay outside bonded premises.

Inventory at a 3PL is tracked and transferred like inventory anywhere else.

# Locations within a facility

A facility can be split into storage locations, such as a cold room, a dry warehouse or a taproom walk-in. During setup, turn on Track sub-locations for the facility. Afterwards, manage its locations in Settings → Facilities. For each location you can set:

  • Location Name
  • Within TTB Bonded Premises: the default comes from the facility's role, as described above.
  • Default Post-Packaging Location and Default Transfer Location, which fill in common choices so people don't pick them every time.

You can also split one physical building into several facilities when that matches how you work.

# Moving product between facilities

Use Transfers to move inventory between facilities or between locations in one facility. Examples are a co-packer run going to your 3PL, or a pallet going to your taproom. Each transfer is recorded against the actual inventory item and date code, so every facility's on-hand stays correct.

# Per-facility settings

Each facility turns on only the parts it uses:

  • Production Operations covers ownership, brewhouse, cellar tracking, inventory locations, bill-of-lading recipients, compliance (TTB and state licenses), and capacity planning. It is shown only when production is on.
  • Taproom Operations covers POS extraction, automatic POS depletion, draft loss and inventory rotation, and sales-order linkage. See Settings.

Reports and inventory views can be filtered by facility. Each facility's color is used consistently across every view.
